Commercial, Industrial, and Municipal Services
Invasive and Non-native Plants
Green Admiral controls non-native invasive plants in natural areas in North and West Vancouver, Vancouver, Richmond and municipalities across the lower mainland and Howe Sound. We service private property, parks, rights of way, and both urban and rural forest – wherever there is a need.
Treated sites require re-occupancy with native plant species appropriate to biogoeclimatic (BEC) zone. Green Admiral offer services from planning to planting to take advantage of the many benefits of restoring natural areas for native growth including lower maintenance, less time watering, and increase value to native wildlife. Contact us for more information on our services or to schedule a consultation.
Ecological Restoration and Riparian Areas Management
Green Admiral provides restoration and management services for riparian (stream side) zones to conserve species biodiversity and enhance natural habitat. From removal and management of invasive/noxious species to creating diverse species communities and establishing mycorrhizal (beneficial/symbiotic) fungi relationships.
Urban Forestry and Arboriculture Services
At Green Admiral we provide health and maintenance prescriptions for urban tree stands and individual trees. From rejuvenation pruning, Arborist reports, and hazard tree assessments, we are able to help you develop the plans and capacity to maximize efficiency and the return on your operations while balancing the health of forested areas.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
We also offer comprehensive mapping and GIS solutions for the private and governmental sectors. Contact us for more information on how we can help you maximize the benefits of your information systems for natural areas.
Volunteerism
A portion of Green Admiral’s time is allocated to volunteering for one of the north shore’s organizations dedicated to protecting or restoring the environment.
Hogweed and Knotweed
These plants now pose a major threat to homes and the environment over much of British Columbia’s lower mainland. Most local municipalities are working hard to control knotweed and the City of Vancouver now enforces its removal on private property where there is a complaint by a neighbour.
Risks posed by knotweed include:
- destruction of infrastructure because it can grow through asphalt, concrete, brickwork and drainage systems
- erosion of creek banks with sedimentation and further spread downstream
- loss of native plants with a corresponding loss in the animals and birds which depend on them.
To prevent the spread of knotweed, please:
- do not cut live stems
- have all knotweed treated professionally
- do not move underlying soil to another location because the roots can be 3 metres deep and remain viable for 20 years or more.
- report all knotweed locations using the link below
